Jenn & Jared // Whidbey Island Engagement
/Saturday, January 5th, 2019
January 3rd, a Thursday night, my sister and I got a text from our good friend, Andrew. He asked if we wanted to shoot a, surprise to Jenn, engagement with him that Saturday. We instantly said yes and the fun began! We arrived at Whidbey Island after a 2 hour drive, a ferry ride, and trying not to get seen by Jenn. We parked and made our way down to this beautiful little area that Jared had picked out. Whidbey Island is one of Jenn & Jared’s favorite places to visit, so it was the perfect place for him to propose.
I hadn’t meet Jenn or Jared before, so I was the only one of our trio that could wander around without being noticed, I just had to hide my camera. Trying to be a tourist, when your not a tourist is harder than I thought! Sarah and Andrew already knew her, but I only knew what they looked like from a picture.
We had already marked out our spots to sit, per Jared’s instructions. So we waited……. waited……. waited……… and waited, until I decided to see if they had come down yet or not. You see, the spot Jared had chosen had been occupied by tourists and I didn’t recognize the couple from anyone that had come down. I had also left my phone with our assistant. As I walked toward the place I last saw my friends, I saw two people sitting at the picnic table. They look A LOT like Jenn & Jared! I looked around for Andrew and saw he had walked straight into the bushes, trying not to be seen, AND a dog was barking at him! I did the only thing I knew I could do and snapped as many photos as I could! Anyway, we captured the moment and as you can see from the photos above…….
SHE SAID YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Surprise engagements has definitely become a favorite of mine to photograph. It was a bucket list goal, I didn’t know I had. Getting to watch two people who love each other take the next step in their relationship, is absolutely beautiful to see. From many tears of joy, to the biggest smiles ever seen, you truly know how much these two love each other.
We asked Jenn and Jared to share their favorite thing about the other. Hearing the perspective of both these awesome people was really, really neat. At the beginning of any relationship you try to learn everything possible about each other, but in moments like these, you realize how far you have come from the first hello, the first smile, the first date. It makes it all so worth it.
